John Hames A.C.M.A.  C.G.M.A. – Director

After a career of senior appointments in large listed companies, John took up the role of a PERA registered consultant which led to the formation of his own accounting practice in 1985. The business has undergone several structural changes throughout the years, finally becoming Hames Partnership in June 1996 and Hames Partnership Limited in June 2003.

John has taken a step back from the day to day running of the business but maintains his finger on the pulse through special projects and is always around to advise clients and staff.

Lisa Hames A.C.M.A  C.G.M.A. – Director & Senior Accountant 

Lisa joined Hames Partnership in 1992. She is a qualified chartered accountant and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. She has over 25 years of experience in finance and accountancy.

Lisa has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in dealing with businesses ranging from new start-ups, sole traders, partnerships, owner-managed family businesses to private limited companies.

Lisa controls the day to day running of Hames Partnership, including accounts preparation, general advisory and professional business advice. In addition, she advises on business valuation reporting, business development and management remuneration packages.

Lisa prides herself on her proactive and personal approach. She works closely with each of our clients to provide a service that is tailored to their individual needs.

Peter Hames BSC(Hons) Financial Systems

Pete joined Hames Partnership in 1997. Through his considerable knowledge and experience of financial systems he has been able to develop the management consultancy side of the practice.

He offers advice and assistance to a wide variety of clients from business start-ups, sole traders, partnerships and limited companies in a diverse range of business sectors.

Pete is involved in helping clients improve their transactional and decision support processes, thus allowing them to make their individual businesses more effective and efficient. He is involved in sustainable cost reduction, financial planning and analysis, management reporting, financial systems optimisation and performance management. He also assists in managing companies that run Sage, Quickbooks and Zero.

Pete seeks to understand the unique needs of each client offering a customised solution and quality service.

Tom Cheney F.C.C.A. – Accountant

Tom is an experienced certified accountant and looks after a wide range of clients, from sole traders to large limited companies. With over fifteen years of experience in accountancy and finance, Tom has been with us since 2009. Tom became a fully qualified certified accountant in 2011 and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

He primarily works on accounting matters for our clients, including statutory accounts preparation and the provision of accounting and business advice.

Tom brings strong financial insight and business acumen to his clients and has an extensive network of local business contacts. He works hard at building the relationships and understanding that allow our clients to achieve their growth targets.

Emma Harding – Accountant

Emma joined us in 2012 becoming a fully qualified certified accountant in 2015 and is an Affiliate of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Emma is responsible for maintaining accounting records and prepares accounts and management information for our clients. She also prepares VAT returns, management accounts and is involved with the preparation of self-assessment tax returns.

Emma enjoys working with a varied client portfolio across a range of sectors. She has many years of experience in managing the provision of accountancy services to our clients, ranging from sole traders and partnerships to smaller limited companies.

Jemma Vaughan – Finance and Accounts Administrator/Trainee Accountant

Jemma joined us in 2013. With over 15 years of relevant experience, Jemma’s skills and qualifications enable her to perform a wide range of client work including Sage Line 50 book-keeping, management accounting, VAT returns, client due diligence and payroll processing.

She is also responsible for Companies House compliance for clients, including maintenance of Limited Company statutory books held at our office and submission of statutory returns.

She is currently training to become a Certified Management Accountant and is also Association of Accounting Technicians qualified.

Alison Harris – Finance and Accounts Administrator

Alison joined us in 2016 having worked for many years in both the financial and education sectors.

She has a wealth of experience in Sage Line 50 book-keeping and Sage payroll. She is responsible for bank reconciliation and control accounts, VAT returns, production of monthly accounts, maintaining sales and purchase ledgers, carrying out month end duties to produce an accurate trial balance, generating and posting journals and assisting our accountants with year-end. She is also involved with the processing of payrolls for our clients and RTI submissions to HMRC.

Alison works closely with our clients and has built up good working relationships. She will often work at our client’s offices/sites.

Rebecca Davidian – Personal Tax Advisor

Rebecca has been with us since 2003 and is a specialist on self-assessment Tax Returns. She ensures that our clients meet all tax obligations by preparing and submitting tax returns, tax computations and any other necessary forms. She will also advise our clients on their personal taxes including residence, capital gains tax and income tax.

With her wealth of knowledge and experience of all matters relating to self-assessment, Rebecca is able to provide valuable assistance to our clients, whether it be with personal tax issues, compliance processing or insight on issues that might affect personal tax.

Rachel Smith BA(Hons) Business Studies - Payroll Administrator

Rachel joined the practice in October 2016, having previously worked for a large accountancy firm in London.

Rachel deals with all aspects of a client's payroll requirements, including processing weekly/monthly payrolls on Sage 50 Payroll, providing payslips to employees, maintaining employee payroll records, submission of real time information (RTI) to HMRC, notifying the client of their PAYE liability, the set up and management of auto enrolment/workplace pension duties and Construction Industry Scheme s.

Rachel holds The Institute of Chartered Bookkeepers Level 3 Diploma in Payroll Management.

Scott Hicklin – Accounts Apprentice

Scott studied Chemistry and Physics at Durham University before joining us in January 2018. He is currently studying for his Association of Accounting Technicians (A.A.T.) qualification. Scott’s role is supporting the accounts, book-keeping, VAT and payroll teams.
